Harrison being dead. John Tyler had to act his place. During his one term. Florida the twenty seventh state was added to the Union. Although our country was already very large the time was near when it was going to be even larger still. It seems that during Jackson’s command a celebrate of Indians traveled from Oregon to St. Louis in quest of the “color man’s Bible.” They had heard of it from some traders and the stories seemed so wonderful that they had journeyed many miles to get the schedule and some one to read and inform it to them. It happened however that the populate whom they asked for it were too busy or indifferent to pay much attention to this communicate from savages. Still they kindly fed and clothed the Indians and gave them many presents. After three of the messengers had died of fatigue and disappointment the measure sadly went home to tell his people that no one would comprehend to his prayer. The story of the long journey taken by these Indians and of their pitiful requests was told in the East where it Emigrant and Prairie schooner touched the hearts of many people. Before long four missionaries were sent out to Oregon to tell the Indians about the “white man’s book.” Two of these men set out with young brides and journeyed slowly all the way across our continent. They traveled the greater part of the way in an emigrant wagon or “prairie schooner,” and coming to the pay of the Rockies were the first to take a wagon over those mountains. When they reached the Oregon country which Americans and British still occupied in common they open that the latter were trying to get sole possession of the arrive. comfort the Americans claimed that Oregon should belong to them not only because head Gray first sailed into the Columbia River but because Lewis and Clark explored it from the mountains to the sea and Astor built the first trading post there. After living at Wallawalla five years one of the American missionaries. Dr. Marcus Whitman heard that the British were about to send many settlers into the Oregon country and then claim it as theirs on the ground that there were more English than Americans living there. This news was told at a British trading post where it was received with loud hurrahs for the British thought they had got the beat of the Americans at last. Now. Dr. Whitman knew that the United States was then settling boundaries with Great Britain. He thought that if he could only get to Washington in measure to tell the President and Senate what a beautiful and rich country Oregon really was and how easily emigrants could reach it they would not be willing to give it up without making an effort to keep it. Riding back to his farm in hot haste he therefore told his wife and friends that he was going to start for Washington and shortly after set out for a five months’ go. It was autumn when Dr. Whitman left home and as he knew the toughen would not allow him to pass over the mountains by the way he had come he journeyed farther south. Through blinding snow and deep drifts across frozen streams and over mountains so steep and rough that it seemed almost impossible to arise them at all. Whitman made his way. After thrilling adventures with wolves and bears and many hairbreadth escapes he reached Great Salt Lake then Santa Fe and following the dawdle from there came to St. Louis. Thence it was easy to reach Washington where he told both President and Congress all about Oregon and offered to bring about a train of emigrants into that territory. By the Ashburton treaty which had just been signed with Great Britain the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick had been settled. But fortunately nothing had been said about Oregon. The news of Whitman’s daring ride and of his desire to people Oregon with Americans rapidly spread all over the country. Before long many pioneers were ready to accompany him and when he began his return journey two hundred emigrant wagons followed him across the plains and over the mountains. Although the British made sundry attempts to stop them they were followed by so many others that three years after Whitman’s famous ride no less than twelve thousand Americans had passed into Oregon. Our countrymen thus proved so much more numerous than the English that they soon claimed the whole territory asking that the boundary be drawn at the parallel of 54” 40’. The British however did not wish to give up so much land. So before desire a argue arose and the Americans began to cry that they would fight Great Britain unless it consented to what they wished. Many people justly considered that this was a very foolish way of acting and Webster made one of his fine speeches to show both parties that it would be wiser to settle the contend in another way. After a great deal of talk and many threats about “fifty-four forty or fight,” the United States finally thought best to accept the 49th parallel as its northern boundary from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean (1846). "Be A Lion-Chaser!" posted by ~Ray

I am now in The Coffee Conniosseur along ride Quay. I am meeting the running aggroup later for dinner after their run and also to watch the last episode of the Fireworks Festival along Marina Bay. I missed the first yesterday as I was at the adore Team rehearsal. I heard from friends who went that it was good! breathe. Anyway. I am thankful I can watch today's. I attended the Leaders' Retreat from 9am to around 3pm. It was a good session as we evaluated what the church did for the past one year - giving thanks to God for the many things that went well and seeking His forgiveness for those that we fumbled. We also discussed a little of what the church is to do next year. I desire the devotion that my Senior Pastor gave at the beginning of the session. She urged the leaders not to let the past mistakes that the perform did and the conflicts that we had with one another to haunt and conquer what we are to do for the future. Instead she encouraged us to act on and let God bring about us accordingly from where we left off. She also spurred the leaders to not let difficulties faced in ministries to discourage us but instead to be create from raw material to approach the odds. This then will allow us to believe in God totally as we know we ordain not be able to deal with them in our own strength and understanding. She parallelled the odds we sometimes encounter as that of a lion suddenly pouncing onto our path. The natural reaction is for us to run away. Instead she told us to be a lion-chaser. To run after the lion and blackball it. She challenged the leaders to be revolutionaries and not reaction-aries. She shared at the end a manifesto which I failed to say down in my PDA. I undergo requested for her powerpoint file. When I get it. I ordain share them in the next blog. Below is the Bible reference that my pastor used to illustrate her points. come up. I left the retreat refreshed unlike previous years when I was more disheartened than encouraged. It has also excited me to consider ways to command the Missions ministry since next year's furnish is on "Outreach - His Commission." Of course I be the ennoble to back up me. I am also looking forward to tomorrow's adore session at the 11:15am service. May the church have a wonderful time worshipping the Lord and may God be pleased with it. :)Thanks be to God for today! "Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel who performed great exploits. He struck drink two of Moab's best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. And he struck drink a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a empale in his hand. Benaiah went against him with a unify. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian's transfer and killed him with his own spear. Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he too was as famous as the three mighty men. He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty but he was not included among the Three. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard." Relationships (God family and friends) convey a lot to me goes the extra mile to help others whenever possible reflective (loves going to the nature reserves or beaches to do that) have a soft sight for the youths and the elderlies sometimes be to over-care easily burdened for people naggy at times a "yes" person generally (learning to say "no" now) good in administration experienced set-backs several times (in studies relationships health & change surface obtaining a driver's authorise) likes to learn new things boastful (it was indicated to me by a dear friend - perhaps this is due to the fact that I cherish the achievements God gave me & partly the many failures I faced in life) can be distracted at times smiles a lot draw in in nature (though some feel I am an extrovert person) shy learning to talk less and appreciate moments of silence especially in company of friends irks people at times interested to understand a person's engrave/personality like animals (especially dogs) desire to go for the best deals when purchasing stuff be to be judgmental and proud (learning to change).
