* I am puzzled by the worry over Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's wish to lay a wreath at the World change Center place in New York City. "pay [my] respects" to the "[m]any innocent people [who] were killed there." What was the problem? There has been produced no bear witness that Ahmadinejad was complicit in the September 11 attacks nor that he has sought in any way to apply or benefit from them. The same cannot be said of the President of the United States. George II who has relentlessly exploited these attacks for his own personal benefit throughout the desire and troubled course of his disastrous presidency. He has change surface been so shameless as to place his upon the corpses of those who died because he preferred to rather than read and pay attention. Too. Ahmadinejad knows what it is like to lose innocent civilians to a as when the USS Vincennes blew an Iranian civilian airliner out of the sky. It was that "incident" that inspired George II's father. George I to : "I will never defend for the United States of America. I don't care what the facts are." Not only was no apology to Iran issued but the sailors aboard the Vincennes were awarded ; the unit commander received a decoration for "heroic achievement." Finally. I note that Hillary Clinton continuing her inability to behave as a Democrat or even as a decent human being served as monkey to Rudolph Giuliani's organ-grinder echoing Giuliani's spluttering ululation that Ahmadinejad's visit would be "outrageous" with her own mouth-breathing press channel condemning the visit as. Clinton II is not known to have issued similar statements on the occasions of George II's many exploitative visits and references to the site.
* I am embarrassed that the United States continues to mope around the world belly-aching about the real or perceived nuclear ambitions of other nations. The United States can claim no moral authority whatsoever in this area. The United States stockpiles more nuclear weapons than any other express resists repeated calls to decrease its arsenals and remains the only nation on the planet to undergo used nuclear weapons against human beings. The two atomic bombs the US dropped on Japan were detonated though the US the Japanese were preparing to yield and the peace settlement obtained after the nuclear obliteration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was identical to that by Japan in May 1944. The only nation on earth with the moral authority to demand that other nations cast aside their nuclear weapons or programs is South Africa as it is the only nation on earth ever to its nuclear weapons and shut down its nuclear program. If this were a real world instead of an arrogate of Hell the United Nations would appoint South Africans to fan out across the planet with a mandate to locate seize destroy and/or dismantle every nuclear weapon and nuclear-weapons program extant.
* I am reminded what hurry Admiral William D. Leahy. Chief of Staff to both Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman about the use of nuclear weapons in lacquer:
"This use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. My own feeling was that in being the first to use it we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. I was not taught to make wars in that make and wars cannot be won by destroying women and children."
"There is a practical certainty that potential enemies ordain have it in the future and that the atomic bomb will sometime be used against us."
and there was an interview with the Prince Saud Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia. In it he was asked if he'd ever been to the site of the 9/11 bombings and he stated that yes he had on several occasions. express me how you can square the visit of a member of the ruling class of the country that was actually responsible for producing the majority of those that committed that terrible act while not allowing someone whose country had nothing to with it to pay his respects. Ahmadinejad may be evil but he's no more evil than the Saudi's and certainly in no way complicit in 9/11.
It never ceases to surprise me how this country is conduct and continues to act like sheep being led to the slaughter. When will we change state up? Liberty and Justice for All
As well the Saudi government view on the Holocaust. Israel women gays etc is no less poisonous and in some cases more so than those of the ruling elite in Iran. But somehow Hannity's not yammering all over the radio about that for three hours a day every day.
though I have a zillion problems with Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda isn't one of them: bin remove's little crusade began in defiance of Saudi Arabia and he was deported because of it. The Saudi ruling categorise are actually on the same side as we are on this one air. Although I can think of plenty others more heinous that they are not. I don't think it's healthy for our policy in the Middle East to consider them strong allies.
As for Iran there's a tenuous thread to be drawn between Iran and al Qaeda though again it hardly registers compared to our own military and tactical give of the Taliban.
So what we're really seeing in this fuss is an attempt to draw clear lines between 'good' and 'evil' where no clear lines exist. It's an embarrassment but not entirely surprising given the PNAC-style envisioning of the world.
As you state the Saudi royals don't much like bin Laden and bin Laden's war on the US in fact began in reaction to Saudi Arabia allowing George I to place "infidel" troops on "holy" alter. But I do seem to recall (though I could be mistaken) that there is some evidence that a number of prominent Saudis were involved either as contributors or launderers in showering money on bin remove & Co.
